Five Things To Remember About October 9, 2011

  1. Of course we slept in because of all the craziness from Saturday and Saturday night.
  2. I really wanted to take the best friend and Ninja to Odd Fellows for brunch before we took best friend to the airport. BUT that didn't work out so well. Long story: I walked upstairs to start getting ready and best friend was right behind me. I went in my room and as I was closing the door she says "um, I can't get in my room." I turn around and no kidding did she lock herself out of her dang room. Keep in mind that this isn't my house...I'm dog sitting for my favorite dog...whose owner is my boss. I stay there all the time...and have actually locked myself out of their house before so this was just terribly embarrassing for me. I didn't know what to do so I called the boss. I thought SURELY they have a key to the door knob. THEY DIDN'T! She tried to tell me that the door doesn't have a lock and that you just have to pull hard. Well, she was wrong. There was a lock and we ended up calling a locksmith to come drill the lock out. He came just in time for us to have to leave for the airport and charged us $150. It was a terrible ending to a wonderful weekend with my best friend. I felt so bad for her.
  3. Because of all of the above and not going to Odd Fellows we still needed to eat so guess what? My     oh so sweet and loving boyfriend, Ninja, cooked up a delicious breakfast. It all turned out wonderful.
  4. I was pretty sad to say goodbye to best friend but I will see her again soon. We try to make the trip to see one another every 6 months. My turn next...off to Chicago I go!
  5. Ninja and I decided to be lazy the rest of the day. It was cool and rainy out so we didn't feel too guilty about it. We cooked dinner and relaxed all night long. It was amazing and much needed.

Five Things To Remember About October 13, 2011

  1. Last night was my first night staying with an old dog named Heidi. She is so very sweet and her parents live in an amazing high rise condo on Turtle Creek. I woke up to the most amazing sunrise view this morning from my bedroom. I've never seen a Dallas sunrise like that before. It has definitely made this day a lovely one!
  2. I had a pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks. What a wonderful little Thursday morning treat.
  3. One more sleep and I get to see Ninja!!!!
  4. I met a long time friend for dinner that I hadn't caught up with in over a year. It was so amazing to catch up and share all of the wonderful things we have been blessed with and the lessons we have learned over the last year. God moves in the most amazing ways!
  5. I feel old because we had dinner and I was home by 8:30, pooped, ready for bed.

Five Things To Remember About October 12, 2011

  1. I got a free Chipolte bowl YUM!
  2. I start a new dog sitting job tonight at a high rise building right next door to my office. I'm really excited because I get to valet my car every day and they have an amazing view of down town Dallas. Super!
  3. I went to class and it was super boring as always. Nothing great to report there.
  4. Modern family was a classic! I'd say it's ranked as the 2nd most funny episode, right under the "We locked our baby in the car" episode.
  5. GOOOOOOO RANGERS!

Five Things To Remember About October 8, 2011

  1. Today is the Red River Shootout! OU VS TX. It's always a big day in Dallas and a great excuse to get together with friends early in the morning and have some football watching, day drinking fun! We chose Stan's Blue Note as our watching venue. It was a beautiful day on the patio and OU kicked some Texas tail. It was a blow out game. Poor longhorns.
  2. Bestie and I had a wonderful breakfast before the game at Cafe Brazil. I got the veggie tacos and they were amazing. Not to mention the yummy Holiday Coffee they have. YUM!
  3. Ninja got here at about 11:00...just in time for game time. I was so excited to see his face. I missed him so much. Bestie loved him. I'm so happy they got to meet.
  4. After the game we all went to relax for a little bit at home and played with the doggie I was dog sitting. Bestie took a little nap on the patio and then we were all ready to go by 6 for round two.
  5. We didn't do anything too exciting though. Just met up with a few friends, played some giant jenga, ate some food and then danced the night away.

Five Things To Remember About October 7, 2011

  1. Ninja called me at 8:15 am. I answered the phone trying to sound all bright and cheery...he could totally tell I was still in bed. Ooooops. He just laughed at me.
  2. I picked up the bestie today at the airport! IT'S FAIR DAY!!!!!!!!!!
  3. Since I've been dog sitting for my favorite dog ever, the best friend and I will be staying there all weekend. We went to the fair at about 1:00 pm after running a few errands. I got a call not even 30 minutes into the fair (we had only had one corny dog...seriously) that the dog was out and with animal control. I was soooooooo confused because we left him in the house, doors locked and all. So, we had to leave the fair and go meet this animal control lady....turns out, it wasn't even the dog I was keeping. I was so happy it wasn't him and everything was ok but so frustrated that we had to leave the fair grounds and go all the way back. We weren't in any hurry though so it wasn't that bad.
  4. At the fair we ate all of the following: Corny dog, Texas Twister Tators, Fried Green Tomatoes, Fried Guac Bites, Fried Smore, and Fried Pumpkin Pie. All of the above was amazing and I cannot wait for next year.
  5. After the fair the best friend and I were worn out. We went home, took a shower, ordered to go food and sat on the couch watching TV till about 9pm. We were both ready to go to bed. It was a little embarrassing. We both asked what the heck was wrong with us and we came to the conclusion that we are getting old. Scary.

Five Things To Remember About October 6, 2011

  1. I haven't ran all week and I'm beginning to feel it. I hate when I do this.
  2. I'm off tomorrow! I'm so happy and excited about that.
  3. I went home early today and cleaned my apt. That always makes me feel better.
  4. After cleaning I took my Stat's homework up to The Pearl Cup. I worked for 1.5 hrs and didn't complete one assignment. I feel so defeated about this class I want to drop it.
  5. Instead of going to class I met up with a friend for happy hour and dinner. That turned into going out till 2 am and singing karaoke. It was fun...I guess I needed it. Hope I didn't miss anything important in class.

Five Things To Remember About October 5, 2011

  1. My sweet friend who has been working so very hard for the past couple of years finally got into PA school! I am sooooooooooo proud!
  2. It's so beautiful outside; I want to lay in the park reading ALL day. BUT I can't. I have to work.
  3. I may or may  not have skipped class this eveing.
  4. This week I've been down and out for no good reason. Today is not any better. I miss Ninja.
  5. I'm tired.

Five Things To Remember About October 4, 2011

  1. I think the distance and having a relationship with the phone 4 nights a week is starting to wear on me.
  2. My friends are out of town and need me to watch their sweet doggies. Ruby and Winston are the cutest little Shi tzu's.
  3. I had a meet and greet with a couple that I am house/dog sitting for next week. They live in a condo right next door to my office building and they have an amazing view of downtown from their home. I will also be using the valet to park my car each evening...and they bring it to you in the mornings when you leave. Hello spoiled. Cannot. Wait. Oh and the dog is cute too...
  4. Today is a very sweet friend's birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MISS M!
  5. After my meet and greet I went home and did absolutely nothing. I was worn out emotionally and physically. WHEW!

Five Things To Remember About October 3, 2011

  1. It was terrible saying goodbye to Ninja this morning. I drove in this morning which means getting up at 5 am and driving for about 3 hours. No bueno. I just hate leaving him.
  2. I had to stop to fill up with gas at 6 am as I was leaving town. Gas stations are kind of scary at that time of morning. I'll remember to fill up the night before next time. Eeeeeeek.
  3. I did have an amazing 2.5 hour praise and worship session while driving, though. Talk about a great way to start the day! I turned on my pandora Hillsong United station. Perfect I tell ya!
  4. I had a pumpkin spice latte and Ninja stocked my purse up with breakfast snacks for the road. LOVE!
  5. I had class tonight and we got our 1st tests scores back. I did terrible, but I think it is because I am lazy. I should have done so much better. I am very disappointed in myself. I MUST do better next time.

Five Things To Remember About October 2, 2011

  1. Ninja and I got up to have breakfast and go to church. He is really sweet and loves cooking for me. It was a wonderful church service and I am so blessed to have a man who loves me and the Lord with all his heart and soul.
  2. After church we went to a yummy Mexican food place for lunch. The patio was so nice with sunshine and a cool breeze.
  3. We went home to relax and I ended up napping on the couch for an hour or so. I love Sunday naps with football on the TV and the windows open. Lovely.
  4. My neck started hurting a little and I got a headache so I decided to go for a run. I am so happy I did because it felt GREAT! I think after running so hard on Saturday, taking an easy 3.5 mile run was just what I needed. My legs didn't feel heavy and I felt really comfortable in my pace.
  5. The couple that Ninja has been staying with cooked out for us that evening. We made shish kebabs and roasted corn. YUMMY. Since it was Ninja's last night at their house we called it his celebratory dinner. He is very excited to finally have his own place again. I'm so proud of Ninja.

Five Things To Remember About October 1, 2011

  1. It's my baby sister's birthday today! Happy Happy 22nd Birthday sweet sister!
  2. I ran in a 5k this morning. I was a little nervous because my training hasn't been the best so far. My legs have been so heavy and my time has been terrible. My goal was to be under 30 minutes and I did it! I finished at about 28:05 which was 4th in my age group and 41st overall. I was pleased. I still have a lot of work to do but I'm definitely on my way.
  3. After the race Ninja and I went to his cousin's little league football game. It was so stinking cute. I was a typical girl sitting there imagining me as a momma doing this one day. I hope I have a ton of little boys. (Well, two or three will do just fine.)
  4. Ninja and I spent the rest of the day sitting on patios, drinking beer, watching football, and walked around an arts festival downtown. It was such a beautiful day. We even ate fried catfish, roasted corn and this amazing thing called a Cajun Pistol. I've never had anything like it before; it was a dinner roll stuffed with melted cheeses, crab meat and craw fish. HELLO! I wanted a funnel cake too but we were out of tickets and Ninja said he wasn't getting any more. BOOOOOO!
  5. We met a man named Carl Liberto at one of the sports bars we went to. He was a very interesting man to say the least. I think he was some sort of genius but looked homeless. You know that type? Such a sweet man and had an amazing life story. He even made me a origami bird and rose. SUPER!

Five Things To Remember About September 30, 2011

  1. I woke up this morning very tired. I had been up pretty late watching TV, you know all those important shows like Grey's, Private Practice, and The X Factor.
  2. I get to see Ninja in about 8 hours!
  3. Ninja and I are having a bit of a growth conflict. I say that because every relationship has its ups and downs. We are very lucky to have not had many at all so far, but when we do it seems that we end up growing better and stronger together and as individuals. We have grown and are learning every day. This one is no different. I love Ninja more and more each day that I have known him. I am amazed by him and he makes me want to be a better person.
  4. While driving to see Ninja, I had the music turned up loud and sang and sang and sang! I love Chris Tomlin's music.
  5. We had dinner at the Olive Garden, yes you read that right, the Olive Garden. I wanted pasta and there aren't many options where Ninja lives. It was pretty good though. I love the salad and bread sticks.

Five Things To Remember About September 29, 2011

  1. Only one more sleep until I get to go see my sweet boyfriend, Ninja. (We live in two different cities that are about 3 hours away from one another.)
  2. I worked on my Stats homework at work today and got extremely frustrated because I couldn't get past section 3.1 after over 3 tries.
  3. I thought a lot about why I am nearing the corner of 6 months until I turn 30 and not yet married with child/children. Why does this happen when we get close to 30?(Maybe just now because I found out that two girls I went to high school with are both preggo for the 2nd time around.) I need to get busy apparently.
  4. I found ninja cookie cutters on Pinterest today and totally ordered them so I can make Ninja a "Ninja Cookie Snack" one day. HOW COOL!
  5. So, I went to Target this evening to pick up my prescription and to buy more fish oil and my multi vitamin (yeah, I'm healthy and stuff). As I was standing in line waiting for the Pharmacy Tech to help me there was a man standing behind me talking to himself....or so I thought. Let's just say he must have been borderline homeless because he hadn't had a bath in approx. 8 weeks give or take, he had a hat on with what looked to be "flair" hanging from it, and his "walking stick" was just that....A STICK. He was all like looking over my shoulder saying "Is that folic acid or Niacin...wait what is that?" I just shrugged. Then he proceeds to tell me that he is just interested in what other people are poisoning themselves with. I am pretty sure he's still talking to himself because I haven't even looked at him. He told me that I should stick to the earth and plants. And then he says, "But look at me buying pine sol when I have a pine tree in my front yard." I'm not really sure what that was supposed to mean but finally the Pharmacy Tech came over and asked him to go to another register. Weird.
My boyfriend isn't really a Ninja. This picture is how he got his nickname from me.

Five Things To Remember About September 28, 2011

  1. When I woke up this morning, I woke up to a prayer request text from a very dear friend. I prayed and prayed and prayed.
  2. My Statistics professor thought it would be a good idea for our class to grade our classmates tests in class....not good dude, not good. I pay for college for YOU to grade the tests. Not to mention that this is a math class therfore the entire math problem should be graded, not just the answer.
  3. My herb garden sprouted! I think it is the dill and possibly the cilantro but I can't tell because my labels were eaten. *see post from yesterday.
  4. I was invited to attend a luncheon in honor of Camp Fire USA. Not only was it a delicious lunch, but I was also inspired and moved by the stories of children who have been raised in poverty and have overcome very challenging obstacles to be successful. There were tears of joy and happiness brought to my eyes. I am honored to be able to support such an amazing organization. http://www.campfireusa.org/
  5. I rode my scooter to school this evening and decided to stop by the food truck at the Siegl's by my apt. It was Gandolofo's NY Deli. So delicious and a lovely evening to stop at the food truck.
My little pit stop on the way home from class.
My first sprouts of dill and possibly cilantro! (can't tell because someone stole my labels)

Five Things To Remember About September 27, 2011

  1. I decided to start this blog.
  2. I went to The Porch for the first time again in months. http://www.theporchdallas.com/
  3. I ran 3.5 miles and it was hot and hard. My legs feel like heavy anchors.
  4. Someone ate my herb garden labels! I don't know if it was a squirrel or raccoon but I'm after you! When I told my boyfriend, Ninja, he asked if I called the cops. I told him not yet.
  5. I was reminded at The Porch that my life is not my own and regardless of the messes I make, God will make it work for the better good of Him...in spite of me!

My labels before they were eaten by mysterious suspect.

My labels after the suspect attacked.
